Your Guide to Proper Sunscreen Application
Skin Care in Salt Lake City should be a year-round priority for individuals of all ages. Even in the midst of winter, UVA and UVB rays can damage the skin and heighten the risk of skin cancer. In addition to getting a regular skin cancer screening, though, you can protect your skin with proper sunscreen application techniques.
Key to taking advantage of sunscreen’s protection benefits is using it early, often, and liberally. The best time to put on your sunscreen is before heading outdoors. Dermatologists caution that sunscreen takes several minutes to absorb into the skin, making it critical for you to apply it before the sun has the chance to do its damage. Skincare experts also stress the importance of using enough sunscreen. Lotion applied too sparsely may not provide adequate protection. If you intend to be outside for more than a few hours, take your sunscreen with you so that you can reapply it as needed. Should you engage in activities such as swimming and running that could hasten the removal of sunscreen, put on a fresh coat at least every two hours.
