Addressing Under-Eye Issues-Salt Lake City, Utah

As we age, the area under our eyes can become affected. One common way to show aging is to have bags and circles under the eyes. Addressing this change in our eye area is essential to combating the signs of aging. Whether it’s an issue of aging, lack of sleep, or fatigue, it doesn’t matter how these issues occur. It does matter how we treat them.

Many People Have Concerns about their Under-Eye Area

What are some examples of issues around the eyes?

  • Dark Circles
Dark circles can be a cause for concern for anyone with any skin type. Nobody wants these unsightly rings around the eyes.
    Causes
As we age, we lose elastin and collagen, which can cause the skin around the eyes to thin. At that point, the blood vessels will become more visible, creating the appearance of dark circles. Another cause of dark circles can be a lack of sleep or illness, in which the blood vessels under the eye become broken or stressed. Allergies can also cause dark circles under the eyes in a condition called “allergy shiners.” Anemia, or iron deficiency, can also cause dark circles under the eyes.
  • Bags
Bags under the eyes can have a different look than dark circles. They are caused by weakened or sagging skin under the eyes.
  • What Can Be Done?
There are many treatments for dark circles under the eyes. Whether you use home remedies or seek medical treatment, there are several ways to treat these issues.

Home Remedies

  • Some preventive home remedies include:
  1. Sunscreen
  2. Getting Enough Rest
  3. Avoid Drinking Excessive Alcohol Consumption
  4. Cessation from Smoking
  5. When sleeping, place pillows in such a way that the head is raised. This prevents fluid buildup under the eyes, which can cause puffiness.

Treating existing dark circles or bags under the eyes

  1. Over-the-counter products
  2. Treat any underlying causes of dark circles, such as preexisting conditions.
  3. Use cold packs under the eyes to reduce these issues.

Medical Treatment

Although bags and dark circles under the eyes aren’t considered severe medical conditions, various medical treatments can be administered. Some of these treatments include:

  1. Chemical Peels
A chemical peel can significantly reduce the appearance of dark circles or bags under the eyes and improve pigmentation in the skin under the eyes.
  2. Laser Therapy
This type of therapy can stimulate collagen production, smoothing the skin under the eyes. It can also reduce uneven pigmentation under the eyes.
  3. Microneedling
This procedure can improve collagen production under the eyes.

Of all the ways to care for the eyes, one of the most important is to get enough rest. This will heal all parts of the body and reduce the look of dark circles and bags under the eyes.
